2. Post PRK Haze!

How to combat it? MITOMYCIN C is applied on the corneal surface after removal of epithelium and application of excimer laser (193nm).


PRK consists of mechanical removal of epithelium followed by use of the excimer laser to remove small amounts of tissue from the front of the cornea.


Indications:

-Myopia upto 12D, Astigmatism upto 6D, Hyperopia upto 5D.

-Sports persons, Army officers.

-Conditions where LASIK is contraindicated (Flat and steep corneas, Thin corneas with residual thickness <250 microns, EBMD).
