Refractive Surgery Week - OBL!

5. Opaque Bubble Layer!

-It is a femtosecond laser flap complication!

-Gas bubbles accumulate in the stroma of the cornea during flap creation.

-OBL will cause adhesions in the lamellar interface making the flaps harder to lift.

TREATMENT:

-Gently rub the stromal bed with a smooth instrument.

-Wait 10-30 minutes for the OBL to get absorbed and then proceed with ablation.

PREVENTION:

-Create a good meniscus during docking process (Good docking technique-Soft docking)
